Heyyyyy DIY Mama Tribe!
Today I'm giving you an installment in my Accent Wall Series. Follow this series for various accent wall ideas. In this video, I'll show you how to use fabric as wallpaper.
Our office/guestroom has been a work in progress and this is one of the many steps I'm taking to get it to the vision I see I'm my head. I love the fabric I found and I hope you find my technique easy to replicate.
Note:
When figuring out how much fabric to buy to cover a wall, you need to measure the length of the wall from floor to ceiling as well as end to end. Use the end to end (or side to side) measurement aka width to calculate the number of yards you'll need based on the width of fabric available. Most fabrics are sold in 54" or 60" widths. That's 4.5 to 5 foot widths. Use your floor to ceiling, length measurement to add up the yards needed by taking the number of feet and dividing it by 3 to translate it to yards. So, if you have an 8' floor to ceiling height, that's a little over 2.5 yards. If this same room is 15' wide, then you'd need 3 panels of a 60" wide fabric to cover the side to side width. So, that'll be 3 times the 2.5 yards (for length) which makes 7.5 yards needed, plus a half yard to make sure there's enough. I'd recommend 8 yards of 60" wide fabric. I hope this makes sense. Hit me up in the comments if you need help figuring it out for your own room.
