[ENABLE CAPTIONS !] As requested - I bring you new generation of DIY GPS tracker / car locator that works also in LTE networks (in areas where there is no 2G / GSM anymore like US, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, SOUTH KOREA, INDIA, etc..). The device can SMS / text your mobile with GPS postition and Google map link or store this data to your WWW server online while your vehicle is on the move...

Total cost of this GPS tracking device is around 30 USD and it can work anywhere around the globe , the accuracy of positioning / GPS tracking is 1-20 meters - check live demo show how GPS positioning works here :    • NEW GEN  30$ Cheap DIY  GPS bike car ...  

This project uses SIM7000 ( G / A / E version ) module from SIMCOM and ATMEGA 328P (Arduino Uno chip). Also SLEEP MODE is used on SIM7000G module to provide the longest available time of work on battery. The device works not only in 2G networks but also in LTE-M / NB-IOT networks since SIM7000 module is CAT-NB & CAT-M1 unit.

In this project I am utilizing small development board with SIM7000G chip . I am using this particular board - BK-7000 from AND-GLOBAL - but it can be any different with SIM7000G : http://www.and-global.com/index.php/p...

Part list (total cost is 40$ as for year 2020) :
BK-7000 from AND-GLOBAL (or other SIMCOM SIM7000G based board) which can be purchased with GPS & LTE antennas for 25$
passive GPS antenna with Hirose U.FL, I-PEX MHF, AMC or UMCC plug - matching your SIM7000 module socket
LTE / GSM antenna with Hirose U.FL, I-PEX MHF, AMC or UMCC plug - matching your SIM7000 module socket
ATMEGA 328P chip ( the same as used in ARDUINO Uno) - 2$
Capacitors - 100nF, 1000uF, 2 x 22pF - 1$
XTAL quartz crystal 8MHz - 0,5$
3 x 1N4007 diodes for dropping down the voltage from 5V of USB powerbank to 3,3V to power ATMEGA - 0,5$
connectors - pins and sockets for pins - 0,5$
universal PCB - 0,5$
Micro SIM card (if it has PIN it needs to be 1111) with SMS/texting subscription
powerbank USB 5V to make it work

The ATMEGA 328P AVR-GCC code provides SMS (mobile texting) control of GPS tracker behavior. Command can be send in lower or upper letters. If command is correct it will be responded with appropriate text message confirmation. Following commands are available :

Command "MULTI" gives CONTINOUS MODE of positioning and sends 5 times GPS location in 3-4 minutes interval. Simply send a text message MULTI to your simcard in GPS tracker to receive five GPS positions in 20 minutes sequence.

Command "SINGLE" gives single GPS/GSM positioning response. Simply send a text message SINGLE to your simcard in GPS tracker to receive single/current GPS position.

Command "GUARD" (theft notification ) has been added to notify caller of GPS position change using text message (~300-500 meter sensivity is hardcoded but can be changed in the program). "GUARD MODE" can be stopped by sending "STOP" message at least once (getting out of this mode is confirmed by text message) or ends up automatically after first detection of movement.

Command "HTTP" - will post GPS position data every 2 minutes to your HTTP server ( you have to define it within the code before you compile it ) using HTTP GET command with parameters "longtitude", "latitude", "time" so you could watch/process data online on your WWW server. To get out of this mode send "STOP" command.

You can add another function like checking some sensors in the vehicle (accelerometer), temperatures, voltage of car battery etc.. This all depends on your creativity...
