[SMBX-38A] SMW Donut Plains 1 Recreation in SMBX-38A

Since I made the Triangular Block script for SMBX-38A last year (2024) and recently released the SMW Cape Feather script for SMW on behalf of Slash-18, I suddenly had an idea of using existing scripts to recreate Donut Plains 1 (2-1 of Super Mario World) in SMBX-38A.

The process of recreation was not as smooth as I had imagined. To recreate this level, I played it repeatedly in original SMW. Although not all mechanisms and features of the original SMW game can be one-to-one restored, at least I have tried my best. Besides that, I have made many new scripts to restore many mechanisms in original SMW. In this level, in addition to the scripts I made, like Triangular Blocks, I also used a large number of scripts that Slash-18 made before (and I am grateful to him for recreating so many stuffs from SMW in SMBX-38A before), including enemies such as Chargin' Chucks and Super Koopa. And the main Power-Up of this level, Cape Feather, was also made by Slash-18 (though I also helped him to polished the remaining content of the script and fixed a lot of bugs). I can say that without the efforts of Slash-18 had devoted to these scripts, it would have been difficult to recreate this level. I can't thank him more for his hard work.

In addition, special thanks to Shiki_Makiro for providing me with a map of this level with grids, which allowed me to recreate the content of level more conveniently. Besides, he also answered many of my questions while I am trying to recreate various features in SMW, which enabled me to recreate these contents more smoothly; Also, I would like to thank toadetteCIZZ for helping me made SMW style running sprites for Luigi (though it was not shown in this video), so that I can use them in my Triangular Block script; Besides that, special thank to Kaizo_Zhang for testing this level and providing feedback on some bugs and improvement suggestions.

In this video, I only showed the normal exit of this level. In fact, after completing this level, there will be some small new contents waiting for you. If certain conditions are met in this level, you can receive a small reward that I have left for everyone.
