La sémiotique et la sémiologie renvoient à l’étude des signes. Non seulement la production d’un signe mais aussi l’analyse de son sens, son système : sa relation dans différents contextes et aussi la façon dont on interprète ces signes. Chaque entreprise qui débute doit prêter attention à la sémiotique. Par exemple, le logotype, le logo qui va représenter la compagnie ou la marque peut être considéré comme un signe.
