Malaysia Work Visa
A Work Visa is an official document that lets foreigners live and work legally in Malaysia for a fixed period. It is issued only if a Malaysian employer offers you a job.
Types of Work Visas
1. Employment Pass (EP) – For highly skilled professionals in managerial or specialized roles.
Valid 1–5 years, renewable

2. Temporary Employment Pass (TEP) – For semi/low-skilled workers in manufacturing, construction, agriculture, and services.
Valid up to 2 years
Lower salary bracket
Employer applies via Ministry of Home Affairs
3. Professional Visit Pass (PVP) – For short-term work, training, or consultancy.
Valid up to 12 months
Applicant remains employed overseas

PVP: Invitation letter, employment confirmation from foreign employer, certificates, passport, medical report, visa form.
Application Process (2025)
1. Secure Job Offer – Mandatory first step.
2. Employer Approval – Employer applies for approval from Expatriate Committee/sector authority.
3. Apply via ESD – Employer submits application on the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) portal.
4. Visa Approval Letter (VAL) – Issued by Immigration Department and sent to employee.
5. Entry Visa (if required) – Apply at Malaysian embassy with VAL.
6. Travel to Malaysia – Carry passport, VAL, and job documents.
7. Endorsement – Submit passport to Immigration for visa sticker.
8. Start Work – You can now work legally for your sponsoring employer only.
Family Visa
EP holders may bring dependents under a Dependent Pass or Long-Term Social Visit Pass. Eligible: spouse, children under 18, and sometimes parents. Proof of relationship and sufficient income required.
Renewal & Extension
EP: renewable (1–5 years) if job continues and requirements are met.
TEP: valid up to 2 years.
Employer must apply before expiry.
