My family had a cabin in Crestline California, just down the mountain a bit from Santa's Village. So we were lucky enough to go there somewhat often. What is special about this footage is that the park closed forever in it's classic form March 1, 1998. This was just two weeks before it was all shut down, Valentine's Weekend. I'd thank this little park for conditioning me to appreciate all the mom and pops type of amusements. I knew at a young age not everything had to be Disneyland. Of course I could see the difference, but it taught me to value charm and authentic home made love that went into to building these smaller type of roadside amusement parks. Some of you may know that I had the chance to bring Christmas to life at the Queen Mary. Santa's Village was a major inspiration to creating a classic retro Christmas world themed to Santa. If only I could have rented that Christmas Tree spinner ride!
