After having my work van broken into a couple years back and with no sign of it slowing down, in fact it seems to be getting worse… plus all the Fancy alarms & additional locks don’t seem to put the scumbag tool thieves off either… I decided to take another route. It’s basically a Halloween prop with a rubber mask dressed as a tradesman which stays seated in the passenger side of the van. If any opportunist tool thieves should drive past on the look out for an easy break in then they’ll see what looks like a tradesman sitting in the van, asleep, on the phone or however it appears 😆
It’s fooled countless people from my customers, to postmen, to the general public and has made for some funny stories. Had for over two years now & so far so good 🤞
No doubt there’ll be a few that think “You’ve showed them what you have in your van now so now they’ll know what to look out for”
Couple things… I don’t have a sign written van so it’s not like it would be that obvious / noticeable.
AND just like an Action Man (or Barbie 👀) you can easily swap it’s clothes, swap the mask, swap whatever.. and it’s got a new disguise 🥸😂
And most importantly… it’s someone to talk to on the way home from work 😬
So is it genius, stupid or just insane? Possibly all 3… but if it puts off any thieves that pass nu van then I’ll happily be be judged on all 3 😉
