PROJECT STEPS
1. As the assistant director of guest experiences for the Long Lake Conservation Area, you are updating the visitor guide and made available for download from the organization's website to people interested in visiting the area.
First, change the theme of the document to Slice to coordinate with the organization's style.
2. On page 1, rotate the picture to the right by 90° so that it has the correct orientation.
3. On page 2, at the beginning of the first body paragraph ("Thank you for choosing to visit Long Lake Conservation Area…") select the T and insert a Dropped Drop Cap to mark the beginning of the body text.
4. Provide more detailed information as follows:
a. Find the sentence "Consider paddling a canoe…walking the birding trails."
b. After the period at the end of the sentence, insert a footnote with the following text:
The Long Lake Conservation Area is home to 180 recorded species of birds!
5. Format the table in the "Emergency Numbers" section as follows to impove its appearance:
a. Apply the Grid Table 4—Accent 1 table style.
b. Remove the formatting on the header row.
c. In the second column, merge the first three cells (contains "911").
d. Apply the Align Center Right alignment to the merged cell.
e. Merge the two columns in the last row of the table.
f. AutoFit the table to its contents.
6. To emphasize "911," apply the Fill: Black, Text color 1; Shadow text effect. Change the font size to 48 point.
7. Insert a Continuous section break in each of the following locations in the document to prepare for inserting columns:
a. At the beginning of the heading "Emergency Calls."
b. At the beginning of the heading "First Aid & Emergencies."
8. Format the section you created (beginning "Emergency Calls…" and ending with the phone number "519.555.3780" into two columns. Modify the columns so that "Other Numbers" and the text following appears at the top of column 2.
9. Use the Format Painter to copy the formatting from the text "Long Lake Conservation Area" to the following three sub-headings: "Long Lake Visitor Center Administration," "Long Lake General Hospital," and "Lakeview District Memorial Hospital."
10. Add visual interest to the "First Aid & Emergencies" section on page 3 as follows:
a. In the first paragraph under the "First Aid & Emergencies" heading, insert the Oval shape from the Basic Shapes section of the Shapes gallery. [Mac Hint: Rounded Rectangular Callout]
b. Resize the shape to a height of 1" and a width of 2".
c. Apply the Subtle Effect – Dark Purple, Accent 2 shape style.
d. Type Safety First! into the shape.
e. Change the font size of the shape text to 18 point and apply bold.
f. Apply Square text wrapping to the shape.
g. Position the shape at 4.29" to the right of the column and 0" below the Paragraph.

11. Insert a picture as follows to illustrate people walking a dog in the paragraph following the "Pets in the Conservation Area" heading:
a. Click at the beginning of the paragraph that begins "Every year thousands of visitors…" and insert the picture Support_WD365_CS1-4A_Dog.jpg.
b. Change the width of the picture to 2" and allow the height to change proportionally.
c. Change the text wrapping to Square.
12. Format the paragraphs in the "Water Safety" section as follows:
a. Create a bulleted list beginning with the paragraph "Parents must carefully supervise…" and ending with the paragraph "…in water related recreational activities."
b. Increase the indent of the two paragraphs from "Watch children every second…" to "Require them to wear a life jacket when they are near the water." by one level.
13. In the "Campfire Safety" section, create a diagram to illustrate how to put out a campfire:
a. In the blank paragraph below the "Do" and "Don't" columns, insert a Basic Chevron Process SmartArt from the Process section of the SmartArt gallery.
b. Enter the text "Drown Stir Drown Feel" in the shapes as follows (adding a fourth shape when needed):
Far-left shape: Drown
Second-from-left shape: Stir
Third-from-left shape: Drown
Right shape: Feel
