Here we are putting the leaf blower up against high fuel (8ft), low RH (27%) and low wind (5-10mph). At the same time I blow away a type 7+ engine. I like this video as the conditions are harsher. We had to stop the fire because we were putting embers across a 50ft fire break and into the green on the far side. So it was bad enough that we had to shut it down. The embers produced by the leaf blower were a concern but did not result in a problem. BUT they could have. I am not convinced yet, but this was the best test to date.
In video 3 (the critical review) you can see the leaf blower being used to control the start of a fire instead of wet line or hose. That was possible as the RH was 50%. I do not think that would have been possible with the RH at 27% as it was in this video. That is, to start the fire, a hose (or a really skilled and well position crew), might still be required.
Amway, here is another look.
