The flash floods on 26-08-2025 caused severe damage to the guava plants in full bearing stage at the SKUAST-Jammu, Main Campus, Chatha. Many plants were partially uprooted and stressed due to waterlogging and soil erosion.
To address this challenge, the Division of Fruit Science promptly implemented a revival technology that they had developed and standardized in 2014, specifically for guava plants cultivated on raised iron structures. This innovative technology not only helps in the restoration and rejuvenation of damaged plants but also ensures their long-term health and productivity after such natural calamities.
In order to benefit the guava growers across the region, the Division has prepared a step-by-step demonstration video showcasing the entire revival process. By following these scientifically proven techniques, farmers can effectively save their orchards, minimize economic losses, and bring their damaged guava plants back into healthy production after flash flood incidents or similar extreme weather events.
