Hey, everybody. Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2021 Jeep Wrangler we're gonna be showing you how to install the etrailer.com Base Plate kit with removable arms. Before we do that though, let's take a minute, check it out and make sure it's gonna work for you. Before we jump right in, I figured it'd be beneficial just to touch base on probably the most asked question when it comes to setting up a flat tow. And that's what are the main parts I'm gonna need.
So you're gonna have a total of five. Your base plate, which provides us with an attachment point to hook our tow bar up to it. Tow bar connects to the front of your vehicle to the back of your coach. Third main part will be safety cables. And these are just there in the event of an unlikely disconnect.
There gonna keep everything paired together. Fourth main part will be your tow bar wiring and this is going to transfer the lighting signals from the back of your RV to the back of your Jeep, keeping you safe and legal. And last but not least, the fifth main part will be a supplemental braking system. And what this is gonna do is apply the brakes in your Wrangler whenever you hit the brakes in your coach, bringing you to a safe and predictable stop. This is the way the front of your Jeep can look whenever you're not hooked up to your motorhome, which I definitely think is important, right 'Cause you're not always gonna be flat towing.
And when it comes to the appearance, I think it looks pretty good. You know, you'll be able to see just kind of your attachment points there. And I feel like it has kind of a Jeep look to it, kind of rugged and boxy. Compared to some of the other base plates in terms of appearance, you know, they're all gonna be about the same. Just about anything you put on the front of the Jeep's gonna look right at home.
But some of the other ones, you'll have that whole bar that runs all the way across. But again, not really a huge deal as far as that goes. When you are ready to actually set up and get hooked up to your motorhome, it's pretty straightforward. And that's because it uses these removable arms. And the base plate is gonna come with these caps, which I think is a nice touch. Not only does it help it look a little bit better, but keeps these clean. So you'll remove those, take your arms and that pin hole there, it's gonna line up with the pin hole in the base plate. So you put it in, rotate it about 90 degrees or 1/4 turn rather, and lock it down with this pin. So you're gonna have the same setup on the other side. With those arms in now we have an attachment point to hook our tow bar up to it. So the way that'll work, just take the end of your tow bar, line those two holes up and push your pin through. Lock it down over here. And even the safety chain openings are easy to get to. Pretty big, just about any size cable end should be compatible with it. And with that said, one of the nice things about this particular base plate and the arms are compatible with a lot of different tow bars. So the etrailer tow bar is compatible. Demco tow bars, I believe Blue Ox and some of the others. And even let's say maybe you already have a Roadmaster tow bar that you really like, for example, and you wanna hold onto it, but you wanna use this base plate. There's adapter ends available that will allow you just to change end out on that tow bar that you might have and allow you to pair these up together. I showed you what you know your setup can look like when it's not hooked up. And here's what it can look like when you are towing behind your motorhome. And I like it, you know, everything's organized. Kind of easy to see what's going on. It's all spaced apart and a nice setup quite frankly. I do like the fact too that they give you a bracket here, which makes mounting up your wiring connector and your breakaway switch really straightforward. That's not always the case with some base plates, you know, they just don't come with this stuff so you end up having to make it. So really convenient there and definitely easy to use. With this particular base plate it is gonna fit a variety of the different types of submodels of Jeeps out there, but it's hard to go through every single one in every single scenario just because there is so many different submodels, So many different types of front bumpers, so on and so forth. So when it com
