Dr Michael McKee Charged With Murdering Ex Wife Monique — Her Family Says They Waited 8 Years

Dr. Michael David McKee, a 39-year-old vascular surgeon, is charged with two counts of aggravated murder in the deaths of Monique Tepe and her husband Spencer Tepe, both shot dead in their Columbus, Ohio home on December 30, 2025. Their two children — Emilia, 4, and Beckham, not yet 2 — were found unharmed in another room.

McKee and Monique married in August 2015. They divorced seven months later. The paperwork tells a story: Monique listed her engagement and wedding rings as "Separate Property" with the notation "I paid." She never took his name. She was required to reimburse McKee $1,281.59 for "miscellaneous debt" with a 23% interest penalty if she missed the deadline. That was the end of their marriage. But apparently not the end of his fixation.

Court records show contact between McKee and Monique in June 2025 — just six months before the murders. The same month, his Nevada medical license expired. By September, he purchased a Chicago condo. In October, a former colleague told a process server that McKee had "disappeared." On December 30th at 3:52 AM, Spencer and Monique were shot dead in the home where they'd exchanged vows in 2020.

Retired FBI agent Maureen O'Connell calls McKee a "grievance collector." Therapist Darby Fox believes he'd been planning this since Monique filed for divorce in 2017. Retired LAPD Lieutenant Jeff Weninger says McKee likely sees himself as the victim.

McKee maintains his innocence and plans to plead not guilty. He faces death penalty-eligible charges in Ohio. His neighbor's assessment was simpler: "I used to talk with him by the pool — and then he turns out to be a killer."
