For this video we take a look at one of the two Voyagers on my fleet. This is the class 221 tilting Super Voyager in Virgin Trains livery, & has been in my fleet since first release back in 2003-04. Last run 8 years ago, it was high time to get it back out on the layout. So a few weeks ago i converted & hard wired it to DCC, using 3 decoders.
One decoder for the motorised car, & one decoder per-driving trailer for the head & tail lights. Decoders i've used are the Gaugemaster Omni Small decoders. I've had a play about with the CV settings on the decoder, as well as giving the model a good ol' service. This has improved the running & top end speed of this model. I'll be fitting an Express Models lighting kit to improve & upgrade the factory fitting lighting ( which i'll cover in a future video).
The motorised car, i've swapped into the central 'Named' car in the middle of this consist to give a more balanced running unit. This involved clipping two of the trailer car body shells & swapping them over.
As i've yet still to convert my other Voyager (Class 220 4 car) to DCC, i'll cover the DCC conversion in a forth coming video shortly to follow....
