India continues to dominate the digital payment landscape with its innovative solutions and widespread adoption. According to data collected by MyGovIndia, India recorded 89.5 million digital transactions in 2022, surpassing the other four leading countries combined. The country accounted for 46 percent of the global real-time payments, indicating the robustness and acceptance of India's payment ecosystem. Brazil secured the second position with 29.2 million transactions, followed by China with 17.6 million. Thailand and South Korea held the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India is number one in digital payments and highlighted the transformative impact on the rural economy. These milestones in both value and volume terms reflect India's remarkable progress in creating a cashless economy and its position as a global leader in digital payments.
