Storm Camping | Will My Hilleberg Niak Leak Again?

A big storm rolled into the valley, so I headed out to give the Hilleberg Niak a proper second chance.
The last time I used this tent in heavy rain, it leaked at the door seam right by the zipper, water pushed through during the heavy storm.
Tonight’s forecast looked perfect to find out whether that problem was fixed… or if the Niak would leak again.
While waiting out the weather, I set up a tarp shelter and cooked a steak dinner on the skillet, staying (mostly) dry as the rain hammered down all night long.
In this video:
→ Pitching the tarp shelter as the storm rolls in
→ Cooking a steak under the tarp in steady rain
→ Hours of nonstop rain, wind, and dripping branches
→ Testing the Niak again: does the door seam leak return?
→ Final thoughts on whether the Niak can be trusted in wet conditions
If you enjoy storm camping, tarp setups, or watching tents get pushed to their limits, this one’s for you.
Gear used:
• Hilleberg Niak
• Hilleberg Tarp 5
• Skillet + steak
Drop a comment if you’ve ever had a seam or zipper leak on a tent — did you fix it or retire the tent?
