This is the Diamond St level crossing in Eltham, on the Hurstbridge line, with footage I took in October and November 2020, April and November 2021, October 2022, and January 2025
In October and November 2020, this crossing had:
Two Generals Signals E-Bells. The bell on the western side was programmed to sound out after the boom gates lowered. The bell on the eastern side did not work, so I'm not sure how it was programmed. We can assume it was programmed to sound continuously until the boom gates rose
Westinghouse cross-arms
Marked incandescent Westinghouse lights
Westinghouse boom gate mechanisms with Westinghouse bases
In April 2021, the crossing was upgraded with new boom gates and lights. When I filmed the crossing in November 2021 and October 2022, this crossing now had:
A new General Signals Type-3 E-Bell replacing the dead bell on the eastern side. This bell was programmed to sound continuously until the boom gates rose. The E-Bell on the western side was left in place, but had died when I filmed the crossing. It is yet to be replaced
Marked LED Westinghouse lights
Western Cullen Hayes boom gate mechanisms on the original Westinghouse bases
By January 2025, the crossing was further upgraded to have:
New white "stop on red signal" signs with black letters replacing the old black "stop on red signal" signs with white letters
New "railway crossing" signs replacing the old chevron signs on each corner of the crossing
I zoomed in on the boom gate arm on the western side because this arm used to be black and white. It was replaced with a new red and white boom gate arm sometime after 2016
