20221119 this is a stage IV cancer update for cervical cancer and a mass around the kidney and one in the lung. We’ve tried Chemo/radiation, KeyTruda and TIVDAK, we didn’t have success with any of those, so we were invited to Augusta GA to be considered for a Trial at the Augusta Cancer Center and Dr Ghamande. The first goal was to initiate a nutritional plan via IV and to later add physical therapy to regain mobility. We weren’t accepted into the trial, but worked on a few other things with some success.
We decided to wait on more chemo and opted to get into hospice in AL instead. It’s pretty cold for Alabama so We needed to take the coach and top off on propane and diesel. We met with the weekend on-call nurse so We could continue to conduct pain management! Continues to struggle with nutrition and getting calories and water into the system. Had to deal with Family drama and threats to call the police if we don’t comply to a entitled grandparent. As if there isn’t enough to deal with already…. Ughh…with all that, We were able to keep things rolling with the home renovation, however zero work got done over the weekend! All the workers were busy or were a ghost! 😥
In Augusta, The Lydia House and those that work with it have been AWESOME! Special shout out to Katie who has been a tremendous help with the coordination and assistance to get us to this stage coming across state lines to Georgia and the entire 5th floor nursing and medical technician staff have been great! The young medical staff has been respectful, kind, smart, communicative, diligent and have excellent budding bedside manner skills!
CANCER SUCKS! But there is HOPE and lots of HELP out there!
