On the final leg of my travels in Thailand I decided to fly back to Bangkok rather than take the very long Train and Ferry combo Journey which I used to get down to Samui. I flew with Bangkok Airways onboard one of their Airbus A319's. Samui Airport is the only airport on the three islands and prices for such a short flight reflect this, at €115 for a one way (booked last minute!) it was expensive for short distance involved.
You are transported from the terminal gate to the plane by bus as the parking stands are actually away from the terminal building. It is a unique and very different type of airport, even the road leading up to it is just a country road!
