Wintering, hiking in the Peaks, and festivities

Winter has finally arrived, and with it the desire to slow down and lean into the comforting things in life. For me that looks like staying in a lot more, cooking hearty food, but also getting out on hikes to enjoy the brisk air and the fleeting daylight. Winter has also brought along with it the lovely festive season. I have spent this time with my family, and I was able to help my mum with her preparations for the traditional Polish Christmas Eve dinner - borscht with mushroom dumplings, sauerkraut and mushroom pierogi, cod bake, fried trout, mushroom sauce... it's all incredibly delicious!
Earlier in the month I also went up to Sheffield for a long weekend trip. A day of the trip was spent out hiking in the Peak District, getting up to Mam Tor from the village of Castleton.
