Back in the late summer of 1998, Premier Parks bought the mammoth Six Flags corporation. They spent the winter rolling out a plan to rebrand all of their "baby parks" (DC, Buffalo, Cleveland, Denver, Louisville, Oklahoma City, Agawam and more) into bigger, blown-out versions of their previous Mom-and-Pop incarnations. This included adding the Warner Bros. characters like Bugs Bunny and of course Batman. Here, NBC4 news in DC/MD/VA announces that the former Adventure World, in Largo/Bowie, Maryland, would be the new Six Flags America on May 1st, 1999 and what the construction looked like.
