It's October in Wisconsin! We've had a couple frosts but that doesn't mean the gardening stops. We are still harvesting food from our garden every day! In this garden tour, we want to show you everything we have growing in our garden as the weather starts to get chilly.
We have wine cap mushrooms, beets, lettuce, leeks, kale, swiss chard, onions, raspberries, green onions, and herbs. The herbs that we have still growing are cilantro, rosemary, parsley, mint, oregano, sage, and thyme. We also harvested our Swenson grapes the week prior.
We try to grow all of our own food so we can be as self-sufficient as possible. We live in zone 5A in Southern Wisconsin and we live on less than one acre. Our main garden is about 1,000 sq. ft., we have raised beds, and we also grow food on our fence. It's possible to feed your family from your own garden no matter how much space you have.
