Did You Know That Ancient Egyptians Invented Pregnancy Tests Using Grains?” 🌾👶
🏺 Did you know? The ancient Egyptians invented one of the world’s earliest pregnancy tests — over 3,000 years ago!
📜 According to the Papyrus Carlsberg Collection (c. 1350 BCE), women in ancient Egypt would urinate on wheat and barley seeds.
🌾 If both sprouted, the woman was pregnant.
🌾 If only wheat grew, it meant a girl.
🌾 If barley sprouted, it meant a boy.
🌾 If nothing sprouted — no pregnancy.
🔬 Modern science tested this method in the 1960s — and surprisingly, it worked 70–80% of the time! The reason? Hormones in urine (like estrogen) can stimulate seed growth.
🌍 This incredible discovery shows how early civilizations already understood biology, fertility, and observation-based testing thousands of years before modern medicine.
