Pulse Width Modulation is a intuitive way to control voltage digitally. It pulses voltage very rapidly in such a way that it can reduce voltage to your desired voltage.
The main parts of a PWM signal are is period and its duty cycle. The duty cycle is what determines its voltage. the period length will determine if it works with the device you plan to use it with, generally the higher the frequency, the more compatible the signal will be for your device.
