Did you ever wake up in the middle of the night, drenched in sweat, paralyzed and barely able to breathe? Like there is a dark and evil entity sitting on your chest, draining the energy out of your helpless body. Most likely that is the Mære, the NACHTMAER, that comes to ride you. A malicious evil spirit of a witch who emerges from her body at night, to plague both humans and animals. NACHTMAER is a Black Metal project with the purpose of telling different stories involving this European mythological creature and related topics such as dreams, sleep paralysis, the succubus/incubus…

All music was written by Kludde’s Snoodaert in the fall and winter period of 2020-2021. The idea came to ask a different vocalist for each song, which resulted in a unique collaboration of a few like-minded and befriended musicians telling their own story within the concept of the Mære.

“Van de Mare Bereen” (“Ridden by the Mære”) the debut album by NACHTMAER was released on January 13 in 2023 and contains four epic songs of traditional and atmospheric Black Metal, with a sound deeply rooted in the second wave of Black Metal.

Two years after its release, a one-off live show was performed in which Snoodaert, assisted by his band Kludde, played the entire debut album and was accompanied by every guest vocalist who was part of this unique project.
