Lockdown Jazz No. 50

Back in June 2020 when I recorded my first video in what was to become my Lockdown Jazz series, I never thought I'd still be making them into 2021. I certainly did not think I'd make 50 videos.

My first three videos were of numbers that I used to do as feature numbers on gigs, with the only difference being me having a go at singing (which I've always chickened out of doing on gigs).
One good thing about singing is that it doesn't matter too much if I don't know how to play the melody as I just have to sing it instead. This suddenly opened up the possibility of me doing, as a mock piano trio, numbers that I've never done as features before. That's the main reason I'm still going, as if I'd stuck to numbers I can play without adding a vocal to I'd have been finished after a couple of months!!

As I'm celebrating 50 videos I decided to try and improve the quality (at least for this week anyway), and so I've borrowed my brother David back from Sarah Spencer's Covid Global Ramblers to add some real drums!

I should point out that my phone can't work with those excellent music collaboration apps and so I had to manually sync my fake 'keyboard bass' with David's drums and then sync two videos together. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it all synced up!
In fact I'm so pleased with it that I'm thinking of sharing it on the Jazzers Facebook page if I can.
