STI Prevention Beyond Condoms

STI stands for Sexually Transmitted Infections. These are infections that are passed through sexual behaviors with a person who has an STI through blood, semen, or vaginal fluid.

Some ways to avoid STIs are not engaging in sexual interactions at all, getting tested for STIs regularly, and limiting the number of sexual partners you have. It is most common for folks who do engage in sexual intercourse to practice safer sex by using a latex barrier such as an external condom, internal condom, or a dental dam. No matter what you choose, make sure you communicate clearly with your sexual partner.
