The Meet and Code event "A Journey into the Universe with BIT and EVO" consisted of a series of interactive and creative activities dedicated to exploring the Solar System, blending programming with robotics, science, art, and literacy. Children programmed Ozobot BIT and EVO robots using both color codes and the OzoBlockly platform to simulate planetary movements, built 3D models, wrote stories, and composed themed songs—all culminating in the creation of a Planet Logbook for each planet.
The main purpose of the event was to offer all children—regardless of their background—an inclusive and meaningful educational experience that would spark their interest in science, space, and technology. Through playful and collaborative activities, the students had the opportunity to explore abstract concepts in a concrete and engaging way, while also developing computational thinking, creativity, and communication skills.
The project’s outcome went beyond the accumulation of knowledge—it strengthened key 21st-century competencies such as collaboration, problem-solving, artistic expression, and digital literacy, all within a friendly and equitable learning environment that promotes learning through play and equal access to quality digital education.
Three Key Ideas:
1. Practical Application of STREAM Integrated Learning
Children learned to program Ozobot BIT and EVO robots using both visual codes (OzoBlockly) and color codes to simulate planetary movements. They also completed creative tasks such as building 3D models, designing posters, and writing in the Planet Logbook. These activities connected technology and astronomy concepts in an interactive and age-appropriate manner.
2. Inclusive Introduction of Scientific Concepts
The project skillfully combined astronomy, coding, and creativity, enabling all students—including those from vulnerable backgrounds—to discover essential concepts such as the Solar System, planetary motion, and the change of seasons through enjoyable and accessible experiences.
3. Ready-to-Use Inspiration and Resources for Educators
Teachers received a complete set of tools—Ozobot kits, STREAM classroom-tested activities, and creative challenges—along with adaptable ideas for future interdisciplinary projects designed to develop both digital skills and scientific curiosity in an inclusive learning environment.
