PIER ABUTMENT is defined as a freestanding abutment with edentulous space on both sides.
The treatment choice in restoring pier abutment cases is a dental implant or fixed movable bridge with a nonrigid connector using a precision or semi-precision attachment [5]. A fixed movable bridge with a nonrigid connector will serve as a stress breaker between the retainer and pontic, preventing stress transmission from the force applied to another prosthesis segment [6].
The CANTILEVER fixed partial denture (FPD) is a restoration with one or more abutments at one end and unsupported at the other end. Forces transmitted through the cantilevered pontics can cause tilting and rotational movements of the abutments. In a cross-arch unilateral cantilever FPD, the distal cantilevered unit is subjected to comparatively less force than the contralateral posterior abutment.
Missing anterior teeth in a young age produces a psychological impact on the individual due the unesthetic appearance of the teeth. Resin bonded fixed partial denture is a minimally invasive treatment option to restore the function and esthetics in such patients. MARYLAND BRIDGE is a type of resin bonded bridge which has minimal potential to traumatise the pulp with supragingival margins which maintains the health of the periodontium.
ROCHETTE BRIDGE has Wing like retainers with perforations through them to enhance resin retention ,macro mechanical retention provided by use of silane coupling agent to produce adhesion to metal
