Chesvan means “New Beginnings. It is the month that Noah and his family of 8 were closed/cloaked in the Ark and the rains began and rained for 40 days.
Noah, means “rest”, yet God called Noah to fruitful and multiply the earth after they were able to get out of the Ark.
Noah’s name means “REST”. Genesis 6 says, Noah was a righteous man and was chosen of God. How can Noah be righteous before Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection? Well, Noah believed God. He did not mix his DNA with perversion. Abraham Genesis 15:6.
• Noah believed God for the promise and because he did God gave him a New Beginning
• Noah rested in the promise for 120 years.
• Everything God creates, even His calendar points us to Jesus as Messiah. You must be born again, and all things become New.
Hebrews 11:7 goes on to talk about Noah that He was a man of Faith. He was warned by God of things not yet seen, The Flood. Though it had never rained in the history of the earth, Noah went on and trusted God and His word. In 2 Peter 2:5 it says that Noah was a Preacher of Righteousness. He couldn’t preach something he didn’t have.
Could this be the month that God is calling you to do something in the natural with a fresh revelation. It might even sound crazy in the natural.
Genesis 6:5 is an Act of Righteous Judgement and mercy on the earth.
Then In Genesis 9:11, God promises that He will never destroy the earth by a flood. In this New Covenant we see in Galatians 3:13, Jesus became a curse for us so that we can be reconciled to God. Therefor we are not under condemnation or judgement anymore and that is what brings peace, righteousness, and rest to us.
The word Ark in Genesis was not the same word that was used for the “Ark of the Covenant.” It is the same word that is used for the basket Moses’ mother placed him in as he went down the Nile River in Exodus chapter 2. This word is “TABHAH”, and it is made of three Hebrew letters, Tav, Bet, and Hei. It is a picture that means, “A house sealed by the Spirit of God.”
So, the natural the Ark was made of Gopher Wood and applying a pitch on the inside and the out. In the spirit the gopher wood represents our humanness or humanity. And we have been sealed by the “pitch” which literally means the “ATONEMENT.” So, we are sealed by and through Jesus. By the shedding of His Blood being applied by the Holy Spirit. We are preserved now in the “ark of safety” and for all eternity.
Genesis 7 mentioned the day that Noah and His family entered the ark. It was the 10th day of Chesvan. The animals too. But they didn’t come on the ark two by two. The clean animals came on by Seven.
Once the doors of the Ark were closed it wasn’t until the 17th day, seven days later that the flood waters began. The application for this is we can be at rest in the Lord’s Ark of safety as the world swirls around us with godless agendas and we can be at rest in the safety of Our Savior, Yeshua, King Jesus.
Dates continue and God calls Noah out of the Ark on the 27th day of Chesvan. So they exit the Ark exactly on year and ten days after the flood began. Then on the 28th day, the next day, Noah builds an Altar…to the Lord. He did it at his own initiative. Not a house or a shelter, but an Altar to the Lord. He worshipped; he offered a sacrifice out of an overflow of the abundance of His relationship with God. This offering it says, was a pleasing aroma to the Lord, Chesvan 28
Ephesians 5:2, 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
When we offer our hearts to the Lord, that is when we become a pleasing sacrifice to our Lord. A sweet aroma to Him.
The month of Chesvan is the first mention of the word, “Covenant”. We see this in Genesis 8 and 9. So, in Genesis 8:22 it says, While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease
Genesis 9:11, God says, He will never destroy the earth by a flood never again.
The Promise of His Covenant is seen by His Rainbow.
Chesvan is also known as the month of Messiah. There are no feasts or fast in this month and that is why the Jews say this month is reserved for Messiah.
The Hebrew Alphabet for Chesvan is “NuN” it means Messiah, to sprout, a son, or a seed. We all come from the beginning of Adam, we all have as man a beginning in Adam. But we are called to have a spiritual birth in Yeshua, the Messiah a New Beginning. 1 Peter 1:23, “23 having been born again, not of [k]corruptible seed but [l]incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides [m]forever,
