#howtousealawnscarifier: There’s nothing more frustrating than having moss invade your lawn, ruining your grass and taking over, pulling it out would take forever so you need to get yourself one of these.
This is a lawn scarifier and you can hire them from Speedy, the UK’s number one hire company.

Before you use the lawn scarifier, it’s really important you the wear the correct PPE, eye protection, safety boots and gloves are essential, and we’d also recommend using ear defenders, and any PPE you do require can be purchased from Speedy.
Scarfiers are great bits of kit and ideal for removing unwanted weeds like moss and thatch that can take over your lawn. A series of rotating blades rip out unwanted growth and will eventually allow your lawn to thrive and grow back stronger than ever before.
This scarifier runs off normal unleaded petrol and filling it up can be done by removing the cap here and filling the tank. After use, the engine can get really hot, so if you need to refuel, you should always allow the engine to cool down, as refuelling when the engine is hot can be really dangerous.
Most of the controls for this machine can be found on the handlebar. This lever here is the throttle and will control the rate the blades turn. In order to release the throttle, you will need to press this safety switch here. This switch here is the power switch, turning it to the middle will put the machine in start mode, and turning it to the left or right will turn the engine off. And finally on the front of the machine you will find this rotary lever, turning this will allow you to adjust the height of the scarifier.
Once you’re ready to start using the scarifier and you have the switch in start mode you can fire the engine up.
To begin with you will need to turn the rotary switch here on the engine to the on position, you will then need to open the fuel line by sliding the fuel cut off lever to the right. Then activate the choke by sliding it to the left. Now with one hand gripping the handlebar use your other hand to pull the start cord. Don’t worry if it doesn't start straight away, as it might take a couple of pulls. Once the engine has started, slide the choke lever to the right.
Now you’re ready to begin scarifying.
Simply push the sacrifier up and down like you would a mower, making sure to release the throttle when you reach the end of a run to reposition.
It’s really important that before you start your job that you ensure the area you are working in is free from anything that could damage or tangle the scarifier and remember to keep children and pets clear when using this equipment.
