This CONCRETE planter GLOWS IN THE DARK! | How I make it

Glow in the dark concrete! The mysteries of the universe! All in one!

So this week we made maybe the coolest planter ever made? I'm going to go ahead and say that's true. It's made of concrete, but not just any concrete. This concrete glows in the dark!

It's made by using the "press technique" for concrete. It's done by mixing up a relatively dry batch of GFRC concrete mix. (The batch in the video was even a bit too wet) Now, because it's drier than normal, when you pack it into the mold it leaves voids. Normally you'd want to avoid voids in the surface of your piece, but with this technique you mix up a contrasting color slurry coat and fill in the voids with that. For the glow in the dark I mixed 1 part glow and the dark powder to 2 parts slurry coat mix. Once it's fully cured you can go back and sand the excess off, leaving you with a pretty exciting finish with the color filling the voids left behind from packing the mold. Then you just have to seal the concrete to protect it from water and you’re done! I'll definitely be doing more with this in the future!
