Having just seen Juliet’s funeral procession, Romeo goes to the tomb of the Capulet’s. Seeing her lifeless body, Romeo wishes to be taken with her to heaven rather than remain alive with his pain and loneliness. He drinks a vial of poison to end his life. As he embraces his fate, Juliet awakens from her death-like sleep. Romeo discovers that her death was faked so that they could be together. He confesses to Juliet his impending death from poison and rather than assist in her own suicide, urges her to live and remember their love. Juliet instead begs to be taken to heaven alongside her beloved. Her wish is granted; Romeo dies uttering Juliet’s name and she stabs herself with Romeo's dagger.
