KABKABAN FESTIVAL
City of Carcar
Kabkab is an endemic fern found in the City of Carcar. The abundance of Kabkab depicts the richness and great passion of Carcaranons in music, arts and culture.
The proliferation of the leaf signifies the Carcaranons utilization of various musical instruments as accompaniment to the dances performed during festivities. Thus, giving birth to Kabkaban Festival.

History of Kabkaban Festival
Kabkaban Festival began in the 1990s. Its schedule coincides with the religious fiesta of St. Catherine of Alexandria every November.

In the past, it used to remember the indigenous opposition to the Spanish rule during colonial times. Over time, it has become a celebration of everything that the city stands for: its identity, culture, arts, tradition, and heritage.
