Not everyone knows what the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ) does. But chances are, we’re already working in your community.
At DCJ, we don’t wear uniforms. We don’t carry badges. But every day, we support the people, programs, and policies that make Colorado communities safer, more connected, and more resilient.
Here’s how we do it, across seven offices, all rooted in service:
Adult & Juvenile Justice Assistance (OAJJA):
Funds local police departments, towns, nonprofits, and crisis intervention programs, especially where crime is high and resources are low.
Community Corrections (OCC)
Supports people transitioning out of incarceration by funding local programs focused on structure, employment, and accountability, reducing recidivism and improving long-term public safety.
Domestic Violence & Sex Offender Management (DVSOM):
Sets statewide standards for treatment and accountability. Certifies providers and trains agencies to prevent harm and promote healing for survivors and communities.
Missing & Murdered Indigenous Relatives (OMMIR)
Works directly with Indigenous families, law enforcement, and tribal partners to raise awareness, provide support, and bring resolution to those impacted by violence.
Office for Victims Programs (OVP)
Ensures survivors have access to programs, support services, and their legal rights. Funds local advocacy groups and leads the statewide Human Trafficking Council.
Office of Research & Statistics (ORS)
Delivers data that drives smarter policy, tracking trends in crime, incarceration, racial disparities, and more.
Office of Administrative Services
Keeps the wheels turning managing grant systems, administration, and the backbone operations that help every internal program stay accountable and effective.
We produced a short video about who we are and how we serve all those who call Colorado home. Because the more people who understand our work and commitment to communities, the more we can build together.
