This is a charming small garden tree. I'm a big fan of the hawthorns in general and the first time you come across this particular variety In flower it knocks you sideways with the intensity of the colour. I also like the semi pendulous nature of the branches which overall creates a delightful shape. The hawthorns are very tough trees and will grow where soil depth or quality is less than great and 'Crimsn Cloud' is as reliable as it's wild cousins found in some of our harshest habitats. The berries are a good source of food for birds in the winter and the autumn colour of the leaves when they turn at the end of the season is a rich, burnt yellow.
