The San Diego Quick Assessment was developed in 1969 and used in schools. Research shows it can offer a fairly accurate estimate of a child’s ability to read grade level material. It estimates reading level based on ability to recognize words out of context. It has its limitations it is not testing for comprehension. Therefore it should not be used as a standalone assessment tool.
