I've recently found an interesting website that converts WAV files into PNG formats. The audio can be imported as is, regardless of resolution and the final outcome on post-conversion will still be 44,100 hertz in a 3,000-pixel wide window. This process, in theory, should be compatible with optical film soundtracks seen on 16, 35 and 70mm films, due to the fact that in some films, there is what's known as a variable-density soundtrack. It can detect sound by the intensity of light regardless of dust, scratches or damage present that would otherwise distort on other sound systems. This would normally be shown in black and white, but it can be detected in color as well, which is what the website I found is capable of doing. The only issue is the obvious rapid flashing visible. To those who suffer epilepsy or other similar conditions, please do not watch this video, as the entire video contains rapid flashing at 60fps. The song I have chosen is a Commodore 64-adapted XM/MOD conversion of "Sleepers' Awake or Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire" by J.S. Bach as heard from the 1985 Horror game "Friday the 13th." There is also a modified version in the second half of the video that shows the endurance of the song, and showcases the variations of the light positioning during progression. Enjoy this experiment!
