Good morning! Captain Miles is back with another mini vlog as PRIDE II steams down the St. Lawrence.
Quebec City, founded in 1608 by French explorer Samuel de Champlain, is the oldest permanent European settlement in Canada and a cornerstone of French culture in North America. Strategically perched on the cliffs above the St. Lawrence River, it quickly became a vital center for trade, military defense, & colonial administration. Over the centuries, the city witnessed pivotal struggles between French & British forces, most notably the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759, which led to British control. Today, its fortified Old Town—recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site—preserves its rich colonial architecture & enduring blend of French & British heritage.
