In the February monthly update to staff, Prof Colette Cowan CEO talks about bed capacity in University Hospital Limerick, overcrowding and plans for the new 96-bed block. She says the Emergency Department is the second busiest ED in the country. Last year we saw a 7% increase in presentations when compared to 2019, the last full year pre-pandemic. 8 out of every 10 patients we care for in UHL are emergency admissions.
