Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the Pluribus season 1 finale. The Pluribus creative team discusses a hidden Breaking Bad Easter egg in the season 1 finale. The Apple TV science-fiction series is created by Vince Gilligan, who also came up with Breaking Bad and is one of the co-creators of Better Call Saul. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gilligan and the finale's writers, Alison Tatlock and Gordon Smith, were asked if the crystallography book on Manousos Oviedo's (Carlos-Manuel Vesga) kitchen table is meant to be a Breaking Bad Easter egg. The connection is that Walter White (Bryan Cranston) was a crystallography expert who contributed to Nobel Prize-winning research on the topic. Gilligan, Tatlock, and Smith confirm that they did not intentionally put this Easter egg in the Pluribus season 1 finale, and the book was chosen because it seemingly made sense for Manousos. However, they do admit that the Easter egg could have been an intentional decision by the show's art department or other crew members. Check out their comments below: This is only one of numerous connections between Gilligan's current and former shows. The Pluribus cast features two Better Call Saul actors, as not only does Rhea Seehorn play the protagonist Carol Sturka, but Patrick Fabian voices the Others' long phone recording for Carol. Seehorn was Kim Wexler and Fabian was Howard Hamlin in the Breaking Bad prequel. Carol Burnett, who plays Marion in Better Call Saul season 6, also appears as part of the hive mind in a Pluribus social media video, although she has not been in an episode of the series. As with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Pluribus is filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and it is the primary setting for the characters. Due to the global nature of Pluribus' virus and the hive mind, the Apple TV series does move beyond Albuquerque more at times than its predecessors.
