Conceived by the late Sir David Brown, to be stylish, rapid and a genuine 4 seat saloon the 1963 Lagonda Rapide had individuality, comfort and a capability of sustained high performance, having been constructed using the same Superlegerra methodology as the DB4 and DB5 models and built on the same production line. Just 55 examples were manufactured, of which it is believed, only 47 remain in circulation.
The example we are delighted to offer, equipped with automatic transmission and power assisted steering, has been extensively restored by known and respected specialists, to the high standard in which it is presented today. From the extensive history file accompanying the car, it is believed that just 51,000 miles have been covered in total with maintenance carried out by Aston Martin, during the first 20 years of its life. Sir David’s concept of a 4 door Aston Martin saloon has been continued to this day with various later Lagonda models, although the Rapide, is perhaps the most complete in achieving his stated goals.
With great rarity, high quality condition, history and matching numbers, this charming and elegantly finished Lagonda Rapide, would sit proudly in any collection and allow a superb classic motoring experience for the entire family. Available for viewing in our London showrooms, the car is supplied fully serviced and prepared to our usual high standards.
