In this video, I hold my hands up – I got it wrong in a previous vlog where I recommended using Vaseline on your water inlet plug O-rings. Since then, several helpful subscribers have reminded me that petroleum-based products like Vaseline can actually degrade rubber over time.
So, this vlog is a bit of a correction and clarification. While I’ve personally used Vaseline for years on those specific O-rings without any issues, it’s not officially recommended. Instead, silicone-based lubricants (like the one I now use and show in this video) are the way to go – safe for all rubber seals around your caravan, from the water system to windows and lockers.
