Check out the Humboldt Redwood Fisheries Exhibit located in Scotia, CA and houses Chinook salmon and steelhead trout. It is open for daily self-guided tours between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome to schedule a guided tour by calling (707) 601-5546. It's the largest freshwater aquarium on the North Coast. Stocked with Salmon, Steelhead Trout at different stages of development, it's a fun learning experience for kids and adults alike. The nicely designed open-air, roofed structure, makes this a fun trip any time of the year. 169 Main Street -- The Humboldt Redwood Fisheries Exhibit is a half-mile south of the main office (125 Main Street) on the right-hand side of the street.

The Eel River starts on the southern side of Bald Mountain in California's Mendocino National Forest and ends at the Pacific Ocean near Humboldt Bay, flowing approximately 200 miles through Lake, Mendocino, and Humboldt counties. The main stem of the river flows through Lake Pillsbury and later merges with its North Fork, Middle Fork, and South Fork tributaries before its final journey to the ocean.
