We Messed Up… BADLY on the GIBB RIVER ROAD! 🚨

We’ve officially kicked off our Gibb River Road journey — and what a wild ride it’s been already!

Starting from the eastern end, we explore the breathtaking beauty of El Questro, where we wander through Emma Gorge, cool off at Zebedee Springs, and hike the rugged Amalia Gorge. Nature has truly turned it on for us here.

We then roll into an epic free camp right on the banks of the Pentecost River, with waterfront views, salty crocs in the water, and a perfect outback campfire. The next morning, we cross the famous rocky Pentecost River — a moment we’d been waiting for!

But just when we thought we were in the clear… we got properly bogged in the sand leaving the campsite! Chassis-deep and going nowhere fast, we were rescued by an absolute legend who came out of nowhere to help us. If you’re reading this — we owe you!

Back on the road, we made it to Ellenbrae Station for the best scones in the Kimberley (100% worth it), and continued on to Mt Elizabeth Station, where we shared a warm communal fire and reunited with some great friends. Together, we explored the stunning and secluded Wunnamurra Gorge — one of those places that just hits differently.

We finished up this leg of the Gibb with a stay at Manning Gorge, where we swam across the river to start the walk in — what an experience! And finally, we visited Galvins Gorge, which completely stole our hearts. Peaceful, lush, and seriously beautiful — it’s our favourite gorge on the Gibb so far. 💛
