Would Swords SUCK in the Zombie Apocalypse? - Response to

Swords are cool and all, but... Would they really be a practical option in a (realistic) fictional apocalyptic setting where you have to fend off undead hordes?

Would they do enough damage compared to other weapons (improvised or not)? Are there other downsides that might make them less ideal? Let's talk about it (i.e. nerd out)!
