--- Yoga Nidra or yogic sleep is a guided meditation technique that brings you to the wonderful state of being between waking and sleeping. In this healing state the body recovers from fatigue and releases stress, anxiety and tension. Give yourself permission to rest and activate the ventral vagal regulation state (the rest & digest state).
You can practice Yoga Nidra in the afternoon to calm the mind and replenish your energy levels or you can practice it in the evening just before bed. If you want to fall asleep easily, start listening to a Yoga Nidra recording and you can simply let go. You will still reap benefits from the practice even if you fall asleep.
You can also practice Yog Nidra in the morning to stay a bit longer in that in-between state - there really is no bad time to practise Yoga Nidra!
Yog Nidra is best practised in savasana or corpse pose, lying on your back on a bed, sofa or yoga mat. If this yoga posture is not available to you, feel free to do the meditation in any position that feels relaxing to you.
