She's Learning How To Sulky Plow -
We'll follow them around for nine minutes while we learn a few things about the sulky plow. too

I'm at TillersInternational.org today which is a training center for historic farm skills like the sulky plow.

This is when I visit the @TillersInternational.org historic farm training center to video the sulky plow in action.


TillersInternational.org trains anyone: subsistence farmers, homesteaders, preppers, people who awant to be self-sufficient, survivalist, off-grid, international farmers, organic farmers, who did I miss? Amish use horse-drawn farm implements all the time but they grow up with equipment like the sulky plow.


The sulky plow was invented by John Deere in 1875 and built by many companies since then. This sulky plow is built today by Pioneer Equipment. See the description of this video for all my links.

Tillers International combines training in draft-animals with woodworking and blacksmithing.

Early sulky plows like 'The Oliver' turned 12-, 14-, or 16-inch furrows and were pulled by three horses or mules. Axle grease reduced friction. Modern sulky plows might have a dozen or more grease fittings.

White Horse Machine from Pike Gap, PA, makes farm implements and sulky plows today. (picture in picture still sulky plow by white horse; Daily ouput of White Horse 715 is 10 to 12 acres.). In my video he has a Pioneer Equipment model hitched to his team.

at Tillers International they preserve and USE historic farming techniques, like the sulky plow, and they teach these skills as well. They also work with those international farmers who MUST use these techniques ... farmers who have no choice.

I read that the plow itself might need maintenance, the ground he's plowing might be a problem, and even the number of draft animals he's using can affect his work.
