The news of Reggie Bush being stripped of his Heisman Trophy by the New York Downtown Athletic Club, and the NCAA's sweeping sanctions against USC was barely a month old.
The sanctions against SC included a two-year ban on football bowl appearances and the reduction of 30 scholarships over three years. The Trojans were stripped of their last two victories from the 2004 season and all 12 victories from 2005. And the entire athletic program was placed on four years’ probation!
