On January 11, 2003, I was brutally beaten and falsely arrested at an East St. Louis High vs. Cahokia High basketball game. I was just a student walking to the concession stand when I was mistaken for someone else.The officers involved were Chief Kendall Perry (then Officer Perry), Sgt. Williams, and Officer Ike. They slammed me to the ground, grabbed me by the neck, and punched me in the head while threatening me, all while I was innocent and trying to explain they had the wrong person.These documents and police reports show the truth, alongside newspaper articles that confirm there was chaos among fans, not players or suspects. For over 20 years, I carried this false arrest on my record.Today, as an honor student at SWIC on my path to becoming a lawyer, I’m using my voice to bring this injustice to light.
