Auf brechendem Eis was selected as one of the works to be performed at the 2nd Pilot Laboratory for Contemporary Music of the Athens State Orchestra and conducted by Christophe Mirkes
The piece emerges from an earlier work I composed in 2022 for a smaller ensemble. I wanted to revisit and expand that material within a quasi-orchestral context, allowing it to evolve, transform, and reveal new layers that were not possible in its original form.
In this sense, the piece is a dialogue between two versions of myself: the composer I was in 2022 and the one I am today, in 2025. It is both a continuation and a reinterpretation—standing on fragile, shifting ground, yet reaching for something larger and more resonant.
